Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Hill Longhorns vs. Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes

Cedar Hill is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Duncanville is on a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Cedar Hill Longhorns will welcome the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Hill knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Duncanville likes a good challenge.

Cedar Hill fought the good fight in their overtime game against Horn on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Jaguars 77-71.

Meanwhile, Duncanville humbled Mesquite with a 75-45 victory. Given the Panthers and Pantherettes' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Skeeters are ranked 430th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Duncanville is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.4 points per game. As for Cedar Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-14.

Cedar Hill lost to Duncanville at home by a decisive 77-60 margin when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Duncanville's Kayden Edwards, who went 10 for 15 en route to 29 points along with six boards and three steals. Now that Cedar Hill knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
