Recap: Wilson Mustangs vs. Loop Longhorns
If the Wilson Mustangs were feeling good off their 60-40 takedown of Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wilson took a serious blow against Loop on Friday, falling 74-42. Wilson lost against Loop in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-25 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Wilson saw an underclassman step up: Calvin Sims scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Sims scored a full 40.5% of Wilson's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Cypert, who scored six points along with six blocks.
Wilson's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Loop, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Anton the next time they take the court. Wilson will host Anton at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Loop will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on December 29th.
