Basketball Recap: Albemarle Comes Up Short

Albemarle lost against Union Academy back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Albemarle Bulldogs fell 54-43 to the Union Academy Cardinals. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Union Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lloyd Barnes led the charge by dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Barnes is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Heath Lunsford, who posted five points along with seven blocks and six boards.

Albemarle's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Union Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Albemarle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Union Academy, they have already played their next contest, a 57-47 defeat against Mount Pleasant on the 18th.
