Soccer Game Preview: Delhi vs. Waterford

The Delhi Hawks will face off against the Waterford Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Waterford will have to contend with a Delhi team hungry for a victory, something the squad hasn't seen since December 3. Delhi and Le Grand finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Wednesday. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Hawks have been dealt a draw since back in December of 2024.

Jessie Carranza and Alexander Gutierrez scored both of Delhi's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waterford). They were the clear victor by a 7-2 margin over Mariposa County on Tuesday. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 2.7 goals per game.

Waterford is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matches. Delhi's draw makes their record 2-6-5 this season.

Delhi beat Waterford by a goal in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 3-2. Will Delhi repeat their success, or does Waterford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
