League recap: Warren stuns Meadville in upset

District 10 Region 5 AAA recap Sept. 26, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Warren, who took down 276th ranked Meadville, 49-28.

The Dragons extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 5 AAA this week by beating the Bulldogs, 49-28. The win marks fourth in a row for the Warren.

Forrest Wested put up the best numbers through the air as Franklin fell to General McLane. He finished with seven completions for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Wested's favorite target this week was A.j. Cooley, who caught two passes for 65 yards.

Garrett Miles was the best wideout in the league this week as DuBois defeated Oil City. Miles tallied 10 receptions for 96 yards. Devin Clark helped DuBois' passing attack out by catching one ball for 58 yards.

Garrett Brown was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 241 yards on 27 carries as the Beavers bested the Oilers. Ben Mayro also contributed to the rushing game with six yards on the ground.

On the ground, DuBois' Brown has rushed for 707 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bryson Paulinellie. The DuBois star has 14 catches for 277 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bradford takes on Frank Varischetti's team. The Owls are in fifth place, while the Beavers are in third place.

Brad Wright's team moved up to 130 from 288 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Dragons climbed the ranks as a result of a 49-28 win over Meadville.
