Football Game Preview: Ron Brown Monarchs vs. Cardozo Clerks + How To Watch

Ron Brown has gone a perfect 5-0 against Cardozo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Monarchs will head out on the road to square off against the Clerks at 6:00 p.m. Cardozo took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ron Brown, who comes in off a win.

Ron Brown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: Anacostia, who was ranked 18th at the time (Ron Brown was ranked 19th). The Monarchs snuck past the Indians with a 22-18 win on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Monarchs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ron Brown can attribute much of their success to Davieon Brown, who threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes, and Syncere Young, who gained 60 total yards and a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Ron Brown's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Esson Godbolt and Tariq Brown, who racked up all four sacks between them. Godbolt has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

Cardozo played against McKinley Tech on Saturday and lost via forfeit.

Cardozo's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ron Brown, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Ron Brown against Cardozo in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 54-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
