Softball Game Preview: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Karnes City Badgers

Nixon-Smiley is 1-9 against Karnes City since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mustangs will host the Badgers at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Nixon-Smiley came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Luling, falling 13-3.

Meanwhile, Karnes City fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Goliad on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 13-3 to the Tigers. The Badgers just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

Mackenzie Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Nixon-Smiley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Karnes City, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Everything went Nixon-Smiley's way against Karnes City when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Nixon-Smiley made off with a 19-5 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Badgers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
