Softball Preview: West Rowan Falcons vs. Robinson Bulldogs
West Rowan is 6-1 against Robinson since March of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The West Rowan Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Robinson Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. West Rowan knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Robinson likes a good challenge.
West Rowan stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 20-2 margin over Concord. While fans of West Rowan might be used to big wins, the 18-run margin marked the team's biggest one yet.
Arabelle Shulenburger made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shulenburger has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Shulenburger was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with an RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Clarke was incredible, going 4-for-4 with a home run, six RBI, and three runs. Reese Poole was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs.
Salisbury typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Robinson proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hornets 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Robinson.
Robinson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savanah Cloke, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
West Rowan's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. As for Robinson, their record now sits at 7-12.
Robinson's pitching crew has a tough task ahead of them: West Rowan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. It's a different story for Robinson, though, as they've only averaged .213. Will they be able to contain West Rowan's hitters?
