Football Game Preview: Brookhaven Academy Cougars vs. Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Brookhaven Academy will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Simpson Academy, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Brookhaven Academy managed a 38-34 win over Simpson Academy on Friday.

Meanwhile, Madison-Ridgeland Academy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. Everything went their way against the Pioneers as they made off with a 49-24 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-14.

Brookhaven Academy better keep an eye on Samuel Stockett. He was instrumental in Madison-Ridgeland Academy's win, throwing for 414 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt, and also punching in one touchdown on the ground. Colson O'Cain was another key player, rushing for 111 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Brookhaven Academy, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-2.
