            Softball Recap: St. James Wildcats vs. Central Catholic Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            St. James came into this matchup off a tough 18-run  loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Central Catholic Eagles by a score of  4-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  defeat the Wildcats have suffered  since March 14, 2024.
 Tierney Zenon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those  hits were  her first of the season.
 At the plate,  Jai Bright made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, two  RBI,  and one  double. That  double marked the first that  she  hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Shiya Steib, who  scored a  run and  stole  Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
St. James' loss  ended  a  four-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 4-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.8 runs. As for Central Catholic, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as St. James Wildcats  challenge  Berwick Panthers at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Berwick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1  runs per game  this season. As for Central Catholic, they are taking a road trip to  challenge Vandebilt Catholic  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Vandebilt Catholic will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more  runs each  game than the last.
