Baseball Game Preview: Helias Crusaders vs. Smith-Cotton Tigers

For the second straight game, Helias will face off against Smith-Cotton. The Crusaders will square off against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Helias managed to slip by Smith-Cotton the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Crusaders came up short against the Tigers on Tuesday, falling 15-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Crusaders have suffered since April 17, 2024.

For Smith-Cotton's part, Karson Wiskur was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Cooper Woolery was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Wiskur wasn't the only one making solid contact: Smith-Cotton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Helias has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Smith-Cotton, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6.
