Volleyball Recap: Bryant Takes a Loss

Bryant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southside Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Bryant started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22.

Taylor Lease paced Bryant's offense, picking up 15 kills. Lease got some help from Livi Smith and her 23 assists. Lease also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Katelynn Farrell, each putting up two.

Bryant's loss dropped their record down to 9-19-3. As for Southside, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8-1 record this season.

Bryant wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Har-Ber on the 27th. Southside has also already played their next match (against North Little Rock), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
