Football Game Preview: Gunter Tigers vs. Wall Hawks

Gunter has won 17 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Wall has won 17 straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Gunter Tigers will host the Wall Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Gunter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 33-7 margin over Holliday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-0.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Wall on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Canadian out of the water with a 49-3 final score. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Wildcats are ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gunter better keep an eye on Landon York. He was instrumental in Wall's win, throwing for 348 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 14.5 yards per attempt. York has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Briggs Jones, who gained 145 total yards and two touchdowns.

Gunter's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Wall, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
