Basketball Recap: Caleb Schott Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Erie

A well-balanced attack led Holy Family over Erie in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. The Holy Family Tigers came out on top against the Erie Tigers by a score of 48-38. That's more bragging rights for Holy Family, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Holy Family got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caleb Schott out in front who posted ten points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Andrew Ward, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points.

Holy Family smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Erie lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Callen Gebhardt, who scored 12 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Gebhardt a new career-high in blocks (two). Patrick Hahn was another key player, putting up eight points and five blocks.

Holy Family is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Erie, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Holy Family wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-59 loss against Mullen on the 15th. As for Erie, they will take on Monarch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Monarch's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.
