Baseball Game Preview: Cathedral Fighting Irish vs. Nolan Catholic Vikings

The Cathedral Fighting Irish will square off against the Nolan Catholic Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cathedral is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Deming just ended the team's six-game winning streak last Friday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 10-9.

Irvin Duarte made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Marco Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nolan Catholic). They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over Parish Episcopal on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Vikings' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Cathedral's loss dropped their record down to 19-8-1. As for Nolan Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 8-17-1.
