Volleyball Recap: Sherman's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

Sherman and St. Marys squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Sherman had to settle for second. They came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tide have suffered since September 5, 2024.

Sherman's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Russell, who had 26 assists and four digs. Russell has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more assists the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrina Smith, who had 11 digs.

Alyssa Winland was a one-woman wrecking crew For St. Marys. as she had 22 digs and one assist.

With the defeat, Sherman broke their four-match winning streak and moved their record to 24-9-1. As for St. Marys, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-11-1 record this season.

Sherman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Marys, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Gilmer County on the 12th.
