Preview: Mount Notre Dame vs. Sycamore Aviators
Mount Notre Dame will head out on the road to face off against the Sycamore Aviators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mount Notre Dame's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
Mount Notre Dame stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bishop Hartley 64-23 at home. Given Mount Notre Dame's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Bishop Hartley is ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mount Notre Dame's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Veith, who scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Veith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reece Hackney, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Sycamore came into Saturday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past Hamilton with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 56-41. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Sycamore considering their 24-point performance the contest before.
Mount Notre Dame pushed their record up to 19-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Sycamore, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14.
Mount Notre Dame beat Sycamore 40-28 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Does Mount Notre Dame have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sycamore turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
