Texas titans Euless Trinity and Southlake Carroll meet for the first time in the regular season; College prospects abound when IMG Academy hosts Trinity Christian; A battle of unbeatens in Western Pennsylvania.
MaxPreps' weekly preview of the top 10 high school football games across the nation begins with the first regular-season clash of two of Texas' top programs this millennium.
Southlake Carroll and Euless Trinity – located about 15 minutes apart – are finally playing in the same district. Both Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex stalwarts make almost annual deep playoff runs and own a combined eight state championships since 2002, but even in the postseason the teams met just three times.
Action involving ranked teams this week includes a pair of key Trinity League confrontations in Southern California with No. 7 St. John Bosco trying to hand JSerra Catholic its first loss of the season and No. 11 Mater Dei taking on No. 25 Servite. In Georgia, all eyes will be on No. 13 Colquitt County's visit to fellow unbeaten Valdosta. The winner will take sole possession of first place in 6A Region 1.
As we cross the midway point of the season, Jamie DeMoney has a slim lead in our season-long predictions contest. DeMoney went 6-4 last week, improving his overall record to 53-27. Stephen Spiewak and Leland Gordon, each only one game behind the leader, share second place. Mitch Stephens and Kevin Askeland are tied in fourth place, just four games off the pace. Colin Ward-Henninger continues to bring up the rear, a full 10 games out of first place.
Here's a look at this week's Top 10 games along with predictions by MaxPreps staff writers and contributors Mitch Stephens, Stephen Spiewak, Kevin Askeland, Leland Gordon, Colin Ward-Henninger and Jamie DeMoney.

What to watch: JSerra Catholic, which is 6-0 for only the second time in its 11-year history, could emerge as a legitimate contender in the dog-eat-dog Trinity League with an upset Friday against No. 7 St. John Bosco.
