Softball Recap: Childress Has No Trouble Against Slaton

Childress had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Slaton on Monday. The Childress Bobcats were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over the Slaton Tigers. With that win, the Bobcats brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Ansley Parr made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Kaylee Felton was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinley Stone, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Childress lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Childress has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.4 hits in those games compared to only four in the others. Slaton's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Childress will take on West Plains in a tournament on Thursday. As for Slaton, they will square off against Lockney at 10:40 a.m. on Thursday.
