Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Devine's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Devine won against Pearsall last Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Warhorses sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 back in March.

Tucker Traylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Yaya Rodriguez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Brown, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Devine is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Floresville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Devine is set to challenge their familiar foe Uvalde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Floresville will face off against rival Somerset at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
