Softball Recap: Lumberton's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bogue Chitto, Lumberton was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Taylorsville Tartars as they made off with a 14-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Regan Lucas, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was McKinnzie Loftin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Lumberton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They are 6-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory snapped Lumberton's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-9 record. As for Taylorsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Coming up, Lumberton will welcome Bogue Chitto at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Taylorsville, they will head out to take on Scott Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tartars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
