Baseball Recap: Fayette Starts off Right with Win over Higbee

Fayette had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Higbee Tigers by a score of 9-5 on Friday. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Payton Oeth made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Oeth was also big at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Caleb Craig was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Thaddeus Quint was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Higbee's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Fayette will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against New Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Higbee, they will head out to square off against Meadville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
