Recap: Lubbock-Cooper Pirates vs. Aledo Bearcats
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. The matchup between Lubbock-Cooper and Aledo wasn't particularly close, with Lubbock-Cooper falling 48-31. Lubbock-Cooper's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Aledo's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ray Guillory, who rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Guillory really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. Another player making a difference was Hauss Hejny, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Lubbock-Cooper's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Aledo, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Lubbock-Cooper does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Aledo will take on Red Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Red Oak will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Aledo is ranked tenth).
