Softball Game Preview: Hillcrest Rams vs. Easley Green Wave

The Hillcrest Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Easley Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Hillcrest proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by nine) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Greenville 1-0. The Rams' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Not much got past Olivia Baker, who gave up just two hits to keep Greenville off the board.

At the plate, Hillcrest's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Skyla Benton, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Easley came up short against T.L. Hanna on Tuesday and fell 7-2. The Green Wave have struggled against the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Hillcrest pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Easley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Hillcrest was able to grind out a solid win over Easley in their previous matchup on April 1st, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
