Baseball Recap: Raritan Triumphs

While Raritan's victory against Freehold Township wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets skirted past the Patriots 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rockets have posted since April 10th.

Sean Burnett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other pitching news, Bear Evernham looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Ricchuiti, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Alan Warren, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Raritan's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Freehold Township, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Raritan will have a chance to go back-to-back against Freehold Township: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
