Basketball Game Preview: Pecatonica Vikings vs. Belmont Braves

Pecatonica is 8-1 against Belmont since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pecatonica Vikings will take on the Belmont Braves at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Pecatonica was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 64-60 to Barneveld. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belmont). They came out on top against Shullsburg by a score of 87-78 on Tuesday.

Belmont has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Pecatonica, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Pecatonica strolled past Belmont when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 67-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pecatonica since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
