Basketball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Lakewood was the 51-45 winner over Boca Ciega when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lakewood Spartans fell to the Boca Ciega Pirates 53-47. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

It was another big night for Jelani Nix Jr, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds for Boca Ciega. Another player making a difference was Anthony Brown, who posted seven points and six boards.

Lakewood now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Boca Ciega, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Lakewood will take on Jesuit at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Boca Ciega has already played their next contest, a 57-54 loss against Osceola on the 15th.
