Basketball Game Preview: McDonogh Eagles vs. St. Frances Academy Panthers

McDonogh is 1-9 against St. Frances Academy since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McDonogh Eagles will head out to square off against the St. Frances Academy Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

McDonogh will bounce into Friday's match after beating Calvert Hall, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. McDonogh walked away with a 57-49 victory over Calvert Hall on Wednesday.

McDonogh got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeff Exinor out in front who went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. Bj Hopkins was another key player, going 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, St. Frances Academy and Our Lady of Mount Carmel (ranked 76th and 44th in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile game on Wednesday. St. Frances Academy took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

McDonogh's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for St. Frances Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-6.

McDonogh came up short against St. Frances Academy when the teams last played back in January, falling 64-57. Can McDonogh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
