Basketball Game Preview: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. Piedmont Academy Cougars

The Edmund Burke Academy Spartans will square off against the Piedmont Academy Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Edmund Burke Academy will be strutting in after a win while Piedmont Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Edmund Burke Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against John Milledge Academy, sneaking past 64-62.

Edmund Burke Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leila Eastmead led the charge by putting up 18 points along with eight boards and three steals. Eastmead is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 28 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lexie Mcnair, who posted 18 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Piedmont Academy lost 64-41 to Brentwood on Tuesday.
