Basketball Recap: Archbishop Carroll Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Archbishop Carroll, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Sunset Knights by a score of 49-41 on Monday. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 54-46 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.

It was another big night for Marcus Gillete, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Marquez, who posted eight points and seven boards.

When it comes to explaining why Sunset lost, don't look at Brandon Luis. Despite the final result, he went 11 of 22 en route to 26 points. The game was Luis' 14th in a row with at least ten points. Jonathan Clarke was another key player, putting up four points and four steals.

Archbishop Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Sunset, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Archbishop Carroll will square off against Florida Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Archbishop Carroll is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. As for Sunset, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-51 loss against Marathon on the 28th.
