Volleyball Recap: Paighton Erb Key Part of Team Effort in Discoverers Win

Columbus won the last time they faced Lincoln High and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Discoverers blew past the Links 3-0.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Columbus was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-12, 25-7.

Columbus' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paighton Erb, who hit 64.3% for nine kills and 11 digs and nine aces. The last time Erb's hitting percentage was this high was back in September of 2024.

Erb wasn't the only good servers: Columbus was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. The Discoverers are 2-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Columbus is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. As for Lincoln High, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Columbus is set to square off against their familiar foe Burke at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Lincoln High will take on rival Grand Island on Thursday.
