Basketball Game Preview: Slaughter Community Charter Knights vs. Istrouma Indians

The Slaughter Community Charter Knights will face off against the Istrouma Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Slaughter Community Charter is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Two weeks ago, Slaughter Community Charter was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-40 to Baker. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Buffaloes 12-5 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Istrouma, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past McKinley 53-13 on Saturday. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 34 points or more this season.

Slaughter Community Charter better keep an eye on Eryn Brown. She was instrumental in Istrouma's win, going 11 of 24 on her way to 35 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it 21 consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Istrouma's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhyli Brown, who posted four points and seven steals.

Istrouma pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Slaughter Community Charter, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
