Recap: Dilley Wolves vs. Cotulla Cowboys
While the Dilley Wolves couldn't quite beat the Cotulla Cowboys on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 26-point loss they were dealt last Tuesday. Dilley fell just short of Cotulla by a score of 54-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Dilley has suffered yet this season.
Dilley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Benjamin Gonzales, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonzales has scored all season. Jesse Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Dilley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Cotulla, their win bumped their record up to 3-15.
Dilley will head out on the road to challenge Crystal City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crystal City has three straight wins, Dilley has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for Cotulla, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hondo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hondo is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
