Softball Recap: Scotland Fighting Scots vs. Pinecrest Patriots
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Scotland). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pinecrest Patriots a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Fighting Scots brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Avery Stutts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Addison Johnson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ramsey Hale was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Scotland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pinecrest only posted an OBP of .000.
