Volleyball Recap: Nahya Torres Key Part of Team Effort in Stingrays Win

Sumner won the last time they faced East Bay and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Stingrays were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Indians. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stingrays.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Sumner was: they took every set by at least 16 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-8, 25-8.

Sumner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nahya Torres led the charge by getting nine kills, seven digs, and three aces. Torres is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Alana Mitchell was another key player, getting 13 digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good server: Sumner was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. They are 7-2 when they serve at least ten aces.

Sumner now has a winning record of 8-7. As for East Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Sumner will take on Alonso at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for East Bay, they will challenge Durant at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
