Basketball Recap: Bourgade Catholic Takes a Loss

Bourgade Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Prep Honey Badgers.

Highland Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paxton Clarke, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. Clarke's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Terrance Byrd was another key player, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards.

Bourgade Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Highland Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Bourgade Catholic and Highland Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. Bourgade Catholic (ranked 166th) will meet Chino (ranked 572nd) at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Highland Prep (ranked 125th) will meet Tonopah Valley (ranked 266th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
