Basketball Recap: Austin Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Austin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past the Russellville Golden Tigers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 79-60. Given the Black Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Golden Tigers are ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Russellville lost, don't look at EJ King. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. That was a full 36.7% of Russellville's points, marking the 16th time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Phinizee, who earned 12 points.

Austin pushed their record up to 22-7 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Russellville, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.

Austin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Russellville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-70 loss against Deshler on the 30th.
