Softball Game Preview: Grossmont Foothillers vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

The Grossmont Foothillers will venture away from home to square off against the Mira Mesa Marauders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Grossmont after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Brawley by a score of 7-6.

Jenna Ennis was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Jules Short also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Ennis wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Grossmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Mira Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Del Norte.

Aria Phruksukarn and Isabel Novak stepped up to the plate in a big way. Phruksukarn went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Novak scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Grossmont's record is now 4-8-1. As for Mira Mesa, their record is now 3-8.

Grossmont was able to grind out a solid win over Mira Mesa when the teams last played back in February of 2022, winning 6-2. Will Grossmont repeat their success, or does Mira Mesa has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
