Preview: Northside Eagles vs. Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets
Northside has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They and the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, Northside ended up a good deal behind Veterans and lost 101-84. Northside has not had much luck with Veterans recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Keron Milton jr. put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 28 points along with five assists and three steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ej Riley, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Thomas County Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Houston County 66-62. While losing is never fun, Thomas County Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Houston County is ranked 122nd).
Despite the defeat, Thomas County Central saw an underclassman step up: Quincy Anderson scored 15 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Mullinax, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Northside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Thomas County Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.
Northside lost to Thomas County Central at home by a decisive 54-40 margin in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Thomas County Central's Charlie Dunbar IV, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
