Football Recap: Brayden Holbrook Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Angola

The matchup between Lakeland and Angola on Friday hardly resembled the 19-6 effort from their previous meeting. The Lakers managed a 33-27 victory over the Hornets. The win continues a trend for the Lakers in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Lakeland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Holbrook, who threw for 367 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt. Those 367 passing yards gave Holbrook a new career-high. Levi Cook was Holbrook's top target, picking up 117 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Defeat or not, Angola got some senior leadership from Hawk Hasselman and Brady Ravis. Hasselman rushed for 175 yards and one score, while Ravis threw for 78 yards and three TDs. Those 175 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Hasselman.

Lakeland now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Angola, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Lakeland will square off against Central Noble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
