Basketball Recap: Bayou Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Washington on Thursday, Bayou Academy came back down to earth. The Colts lost to the DeSoto Central Jaguars on the road by a 57-40 margin on Monday. The game marked the Colts' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leading DeSoto Central to victory were Blake Price and Hunter Avant. Price went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Avant shot 75% from the field en route to 15 points. Thanks to that strong game, Avant now owns an excellent 47% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Webster, who posted eight points.

Bayou Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for DeSoto Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Bayou Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 85-72 defeat against Oxford on the 25th. As for DeSoto Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 55-44 victory against Jackson Prep on the 25th.
