Preview: Denver South vs. Regis Groff
The Regis Groff Fusion fans better hope the squad plays one heck of a game on Tuesday as the odds are decidedly against them. They will head out on the road to face off against the Denver South Rebels. Both of these red-hot teams will try to put the other on ice to keep their winning streaks alive.
While not quite a landslide, the contest between Regis Groff and Aurora West College Prep Academy this past Wednesday was still a pretty decisive one as Regis Groff wrapped it up with a 43-26 win at home. Junior Natalia Sebrian-Rojas took over for the Fusion, finishing with 19 points (44% of their total) along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Denver South's strategy against Denver North this past Friday. Denver South was completely in charge, breezing past Denver North 74-22 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-10. The Rebels can attribute much of their success to freshman Tay Williams, who had 30 points in addition to five boards, and junior Timiya Guevara, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. This also makes it nine games in a row in which Guevara has had at least three steals.
The wins brought Regis Groff up to 11-10 and Denver South to 17-4. Regis Groff is 7-3 after wins this season, Denver South 12-4.
