Baseball Game Preview: Bonnabel Bruins vs. Independence Tigers

The Bonnabel Bruins will take on the Independence Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Bonnabel's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

On Friday, Bonnabel made easy work of Benjamin Franklin and carried off a 10-4 win. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Garitt Downey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zachery Desselle, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Bonnabel's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jaden Franklin, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Independence's offense. They came up short against St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday, falling 10-0.

Bonnabel is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
