Football Game Preview: Forest Wildcats vs. DeLand Bulldogs

The Forest Wildcats will challenge the DeLand Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Forest 9, DeLand 11.6) so any points scored will be well earned.

Forest's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lake Minneola by a score of 13-0.

Emma Johnson and Key Black were among the main playmakers for Forest as the former gained 83 total yards and a touchdown and the latter threw for 95 yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Johnson racked up 31 rushing yards, the most she's had since back in March.

Forest didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gabby Correa and Janiana Wess. Another thorn in Lake Minneola's side was Kenzy Clinker, who picked up three sacks and made three total tackles.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but DeLand had no problem doing just that on Monday. They managed a 19-14 win over Flagler Palm Coast. The victory was familiar territory for DeLand, who have now won three contests in a row.

Forest's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.4 points on average over those games. As for DeLand, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
