Basketball Recap: Sargent Piles Up the Points Against La Veta

Sargent's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They really took it to the La Veta Redhawks for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-30 victory. The Farmers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 24 points or more this season.

Sargent was led to victory by Fernando Venzor and Lucas Garcia. Venzor went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Garcia went 6 for 8 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most points Venzor has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Peterson, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points.

Several Redhawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tristan Musgrave, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points. Isiah Rodriguez was another key player, putting up five points.

Sargent has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for La Veta, they now also have a losing record at 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sargent has already played their next contest (against Center), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. La Veta has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Walsenburg.
