Basketball Recap: Leah Dewitt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marietta over Cherokee

After flying high against Wheeler on Tuesday, Marietta came back down to earth. The Blue Devils took a 74-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cherokee Warriors on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leah DeWitt, who posted 22 points. The matchup was DeWitt's seventh in a row with at least 22 points. Kyann Senior was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 19 rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Marietta fell to 4-1. As for Cherokee, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Marietta will challenge North Cobb at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cherokee, they have already played their next contest, a 64-37 win against Woodstock on the 6th.
