Baseball Game Preview: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Wayne Warriors

Fairmont is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Wayne a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Fairmont Firebirds will look to defend their home field against the Wayne Warriors at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Fairmont has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Fairmont didn't have quite enough to beat Tippecanoe and fell 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Firebirds have lost by just one run.

Skyler Slifer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Miles Osterfeld, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Wayne fell victim to Bellbrook and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Fairmont, their loss dropped their record down to 13-17.

Fairmont beat Wayne 12-7 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Firebirds repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
