Basketball Recap: Chaputnguak's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Chaputnguak had won five straight games and MacKenzie Larsen did her part to make it six on Saturday. The Chaputnguak Shaman really took it to the Nelson Island Islanders for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-46 victory for which the team can thank Larsen, who posted 31 points. Her afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points.

Nelson Island lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kelsey Angaiak, who earned 21 points. She has become a key player for Nelson Island: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least 15 points, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Audrey Lincoln, who had 14 points.

Chaputnguak's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Nelson Island, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chaputnguak beat Nelson Island by a score of 67-43 on Thursday.
