Basketball Recap: Jackson Knowles Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

There's no place like home for Rio Mesa, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took down the Pacifica Tritons 60-45 on Monday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Tritons are ranked 674th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rio Mesa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Knowles, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 20 boards. Knowles' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. John Moreno was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Rio Mesa was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pacifica only racked up five assists.

Pacifica's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Jones JR., who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Tommy Williams, who put up seven points.

Rio Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. As for Pacifica, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-18.

As of now, neither Rio Mesa nor Pacifica have any future games scheduled.
