Basketball Recap: North Hills Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Hills Christian won the last time they faced Lee Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The North Hills Christian Eagles came out on top against the Lee Christian Falcons by a score of 40-32. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

North Hills Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reese Merrell, who posted 14 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Merrell is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Kibler, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Lee Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elayna McFarland, who put up seven points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Wilson, who had six points and six rebounds.

The win (which was North Hills Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Lee Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

North Hills Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Statesville Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Lee Christian will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Cape Fear Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
